Blog Post 12
1. Watch the video: "Transforming Low Income Schools". Write a post in which you discuss the concept of Playworks, how it helped the students and what you feel a program like this does for the educational environment.
2. Watch the video: "Would The Obama's Send Their Children To Your School". The author poses questions about schools and teachers that are essential to a good school. Answer three of the questions asked in the video. Follow the requirements in Writing A Quality Blog Post.
Transforming Low Income Schools
This video is from Paine Elementary School in Italy, California. The school developed a concept called Playworks, where teachers and student coaches went out with the students at recess and help them learn ways to communicate better during recess. Before Playworks there were numerous discipline problems on the playground that carried over into the classroom. There are interviews with students and a teacher that states the benefits of this new Program.
Would The Obama's Send Their Children To Your School?
This video poses questions about schools that are essential to a good school environment. Do Your Teachers Care? Do Teachers Have High Expectations? these are just two of many I thought were great and must have answers.

ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea for a blog post assignment! You pose some interesting questions and definitely raise awareness to the fact that there are some low income schools that really need some help. It is wonderful that (in the first video) those people were able to drastically change the kid's attitudes and it seems they could actually enjoy school! The second video is also a great concept that I hadn't thought about before, would the Obama's send their children to my school? I hope as a teacher one day, I can answer, "yes" to that!
I had never seen either of these videos. You set the assignment well. I have put both of these videos on my Consider list for the fall. Well done.
